St. Mark’s CE is now a member of Orchard Community Trust

Posted: 15 June 2020

Dear Parent/Carer

We are delighted to inform you that on June 1st 2020 St Mark’s CE (A) Primary School successfully converted to an academy and is now a member of the Orchard Community Trust. This is something that the school has been working towards for the last two years and it means that the school is no longer maintained by the Local Authority (Stoke on Trent City Council).

The following schools are also members of the Orchard Community Trust: Abbey Hulton Primary School, Etruscan Primary School, Forest Park Primary School, Kemball School, Oakhill Primary School and Watermill School.

Our school’s name has now changed to become St Mark’s CE Primary School. Nothing else in school has changed as a result of the academy conversion and Mrs Johnstone remains the Executive Headteacher of both St Mark’s and Etruscan Primary Schools. The Shelton and Etruria Federation Governing Body now becomes a Local Governing Board and the schools will retain the current governors who will continue to support and challenge each school.

The Senior Executive Leader of the Orchard Community Trust is Mr Rob Johnstone and the Chair of the Trustees is Mr Andrew Smith. Please find below the website address for the Orchard Community Trust where you can find out everything about the Trust and the other schools who are members of it.

We are extremely excited about becoming an academy and working together with the Orchard Community Trust.

Yours faithfully

Mrs M. Johnstone
Executive Headteacher
