Strider visits St. Marks to Announce Most Active Trips Win!

Just before the half term holiday students were greeted at the school gate by Living Streets’ Strider to celebrate Happy Shoes Day, but there was another surprise waiting for the pupils, when it was announced at the school assembly, that their school had won the Living Streets, Modeshift STARS and Stoke-on-Trent City Council challenge for the primary school that had the most active trips to school.

The competition’s criteria was that between December 2018 and March 2019, primary schools across Stoke-on-Trent had to be registered and working towards at least a Bronze accreditation on Modeshift STARS, and regularly recording trips through Living Street’s Travel Tracker system.

Over the last five months, using Travel Tracker data, we have calculated the number of active trips and divided it by the number of pupils attending the school, giving an active trip per pupil figure.

St. Mark’s C of E (A) Primary School  won the competition with a brilliant 50 active trips per pupil over the last four months, winning the prize bundle which included, a Scooter Pod, Windows Linx 7 tablet, schools transition packs, pedometers, Strider badges, and WOW pencils.
