Reward Programmes

Throughout each week the children at St Marks can earn a variety of awards. These include the following:

Golden Jumper

Each week one child from each class is chosen by the class teacher to receive a certificate and a ‘golden jumper or t-shirt’. This is awarded for a variety of reasons including effort, achievement, progress, homework or other contributions to their class or whole school. They receive their award in worship on Friday and their parents are invited to worship to see them accept their certificate and golden jumper or t-shirt. They get to wear their golden jumper or t-shirt for the week.

Good Samaritan Award

Our Christian vision ensures that we try and make a difference for ourselves and others both in school and in the wider community. Each week, a pupil is chosen from each year group for being a ‘Good Samaritan’. They are presented with a certificate and badge in worship on Friday. It is important that we all learn from the example set by the Good Samaritan from the Bible and try to help others as much as we can.

Star Readers

If the children read at home every day, then they are entered into a weekly raffle and have the chance of winning a brand new book. There is a selection of fiction and non-fiction books for the children to choose from.

The raffle is split across the school with a ticket being drawn for Foundation Stage and KS1, Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6). This initiative has had a positive impact and has increased the number of children who read daily at home.

Golden Table

Members of staff are on duty every lunch time in the dining hall. They look to see if pupils demonstrate good manners; eat all of their dinner quietly and use a knife and fork correctly. It is extremely important to show our school values when eating in the dining hall.
Pupils who really demonstrate excellent manners and values in the school are chosen to sit on the ‘Golden Table’ on a Friday lunch time. They are allowed to invite a friend to join them. Pupils get to have a treat on the Golden table too, which everyone always enjoys.
